    CLAUDE PEPPER
    (1900-1989) He was a representative of the Democratic
    Party and a spokesman for left-liberalism and the elderly.
    In foreign policy he shifted from pro-Soviet in the 1940's
    to anti-Communist in the 1950's. He represented Florida
    in the United States Senate from 1936-51, and the
    Miami area in the United States House of Representatives
    from 1963-89. Vintage 8 x 10 matte-finish portrait,
    inscribed and signed in fountain pen, accompanied
    by a typed letter signed, February 22, 1949.
