Description
MICHAEL HOFFMAN(1787-1848) Politician from New York. He studied medicine,
and afterward law, was admitted to the bar, and began to practice
law at Herkimer. He was elected to Congress as a Democrat
in 1824, and re-elected for the three succeeding terms, serving
from 5 Dec. 1925, to 2 March, 1833 subsequently returned to
Herkimer, and was a member of the Constitutional Convention
in 1846. Letter to Hoffman from J.L. Edwards, from the
War Department Pension Office, date August 12, 1831; referring
to the application of Thomas Slocum, asking for
proof of disability of the claimant.
