New York: John Day Co. . 1964. First. 8vo, 100 pp., hardcover, inscribed on inside end paper "To Ted and Joan/ With memories of some pleasant and humorus skiing escapades - I am sure, Peter would have wanted you to be among the first to have this book/ with best wishes, Hans," dated February 4, 1964 and signed by H. Nelson Hartstone, the executor of the author's estate.  Original dust jacket present with some toning, wear, and small tears along edges, else fine.
Born in Prague, Estin fled Hitler's atrocities for the United States with his parents in 1933.  A prominent ski instructor at Sugarbush in Vermont, with Hartstone he founded
Ski Club 10
, "the first American on-mountain ski social club of true 'jet set' (international) notoriety."   Estin served as a "speechwriter for Ted Kennedy in Kennedy's first successful Massachusetts Senate race in 1962."  His book
Skiing the American Way
is considered by many to be a ski teaching classic.  He died at 35 of ski related injuries.
