We offer this autograph signature of U.S. Senator Henry Bowen Anthony of Rhode Island. He lived from 1815 to 1884. At the time of his death, during the Grant administration, he was serving as Senate President pro tempore. Anthony's earlier career was in journalism. He was editor and later part owner of the Providence Journal. He was the 21st governor of Rhode Island serving between 1849 and 1851 and went on to serve in the Senate for four terms. The signature is cut from a Senate Chamber envelope, a part of the postmark shows on the left. Light wear, very good condition. Please look at our pictures for more details.
